In a picture book course with Rutu Modan, I illustrated "The Crocodile" by Omer Hallel. My main inspiration came from the picture book "Peter and the Wolf," and I used a scratch technique that works on black paper, giving the illustrations a darker, richer feel. I believe that picture books can help children confront their fears, and even though the black paper may have a "scary" look, it actually lends a cute and touchable quality to the artwork, making it inviting for young readers.

A Unique Printing Technique
For "The Crocodile," I used an Indigo printer that let me play with multiple layers of color in my illustrations. This helped me get some deep, vibrant black tones with different shades, giving the artwork a little extra depth.
